We are a non-profit agency that supports change in the lives of individuals, their families and communities related to substance use and gambling.

We serve anyone 12 years of age and older who is affected by substance use or problem gambling.

We understand that substance abuse and problem gambling are the result of personal lifestyle issues and coping strategies. We also recognize the detrimental effects of addictions on the emotional, mental and physical health of individuals, their families and friends.

Location

Provides legal service (advice/representation); public legal education assistance to community groups with law reform and community development; community legal clinic funded by Legal Aid Ontario; provides summary advice by telephone; produces and distributes free public legal education materials; speakers are available to community agencies at no cost; specialists in the laws concerning landlord and tenants act. Will refer to appropriate clinic. Does not give legal advice on any real estate matters. Also gives advice on who to contact for welfare, WSIB; disability legal issues.

Location

York Support Services Network is a community-based agency that offers a range of case management and community crisis services throughout York Region, to support individuals with a developmental disability and/or a serious mental illness. YSSN also provides services within the Children's Services Sector, offering Children's Case Coordination.

For York Region residents who are experiencing a mental health crisis, and their family or friends, York Support Services Network offers the Community Crisis Response Service, or 310-COPE.

York Region Food Network's Vision is a York Region where no one goes hungry

Our Mission is to end hunger in York Region by:

• Raising awareness of hunger and promoting policy changes that increase access to affordable, nutritious food for York Region residents
• Providing and supporting community programs that offer food and related assistance
• Working in partnership with regional food banks, government, anti-poverty organizations, community groups, and corporations

Christian Worship service * community and family services provide a range of services to families and individuals including emergency food, accommodation and clothing * music in the park at Jackson's Point Bandshell July and August.

In serving the communities of Newmarket, Aurora & East Gwillimbury, The Salvation Army helps people through various programs from food bank services, clothing & furniture assistance, counselling for men, women and youth to help for seniors, people seeking shelter, summer camps for youth, emergency disaster relief and much more.

Rose of Sharon Services for Young Mothers is a not-for-profit, charitable organization providing support and educational services to pregnant and parenting young women under the age of 25 across York Region.

Pathways has roots in York Region reaching back 20 years. As a United Way member agency, we are an important part of the Region's Youth Development Strategy. Our programs and facilities serve young families, children, youth and caregivers.

Pathways has two goals:

1. To inspire and empower young people in crisis to turn their lives around

2. To inspire and empower parents to get their preschoolers off to a great start in life

LOFT provides permanent housing and community support services for the most vulnerable, including those with mental health and physical and addiction challenges, the homeless, the abused and the abandoned. Our services provide recovery and independence and respond to the changing needs of our diverse community.

The Learning Disabilities Association provides information, support, guidance and resources to people with Learning Disabilities (LD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). We try to help people increase their opportunities and realize their potential.
