Pathways for Children Youth and Families

Pathways has roots in York Region reaching back 20 years. As a United Way member agency, we are an important part of the Region's Youth Development Strategy. Our programs and facilities serve young families, children, youth and caregivers.

Pathways has two goals:

1. To inspire and empower young people in crisis to turn their lives around

2. To inspire and empower parents to get their preschoolers off to a great start in life

A Youth Community Housing and Support Worker's Experience

"Without the work, leadership, and support of the York Region Alliance to End Homelessness it is difficult to say how the agencies like ours would be able to connect with each other.  As the Community Housing and Support Worker I have found this opportunity to meet other workers from other agencies very valuable and I have referred youth to many of the services that are offered as a result of hearing first hand what support is out there for them."

Street Stories

I just found out about a production by students at Bur Oak Secondary School in Markham focused on the issues that can lead to young people being driven to the streets. The pilot drama unit is an initiative linked to new curriculum materials that are now available for teachers on www.homelesshub.ca. Education is key if we are to bust stereotypes and understand root causes.
