York Region also has vast and varied geography along with a rapidly growing and increasingly diverse population; growing but still limited public transportation services and challenges providing human services that reflect and keep pace with the rapidly growing population currently over 1 million and expected to rise to over 1.5 million by 2031.

• Individuals awareness of services and their ability both physically and economically access the services they may need whether it be meeting basic needs, accessing social support and having a sense of belonging
• Availability of opportunities to participate in initiatives that improve circumstances
• Underfunded organizations that provide services and supports across a vast region
