New Report on Health Needs of Homeless and At Risk Individuals in York Region

Anecdotally, we know that individuals who are homeless and at risk of homelessness in York Region face significant challenges to their health in terms of having basic needs met and being able to access health care resources.  Studies documenting the specific health-related challenges of these members of our communities are extremely limited.  With funding provided through the federal Homelessness Partnership Initiative, the York Region Alliance to End Homelessness has rec






Support Services

With an increasing number of people living on low incomes and in the absence of sufficient affordable housing, regional/local municipalities, social service agencies and faith groups find themselves being asked to respond to increased demands for assistance. There is often need for assistance by people who may be dealing with complex issues, facing challenges resulting from loss of employment, underemployment, adjusting to a new life in Canada, family breakdown, illness or disability that can negatively impacts a household’s income.





Affordable Housing

“Affordability” is an issue for everyone to consider when looking for a place to live. It becomes even more acute for the growing number of people living on low to modest incomes in York Region.
